“Power to Protect”

Alternative Energy Education

The District School Board of Pasco County in partnership with the Pasco Education Foundation has received grant funding from Progress Energy to design and incorporate alternative energy components as a model for the students in Pasco County. The Progress Energy Gives the Power to Protect Alternative Energy Grant provides funding for hands-on interactive learning stations accompanied by working models. Students apply energy concepts as they experiment with human, solar, wind, and geothermal energy and collect data first hand. Direct application of energy concepts deepens the understanding of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and provides opportunities for students to further apply Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical concepts.
